Low Side or Innerside toolboxes are mounted on the bed top rails lengthwise. They may be placed anywhere along the siderail of your bed making it easy to combine crossover toolboxes or ladder racks with your toolbox installation. The more you use your tool box, the more important the design becomes. The slanted lid design gives you a low entry access without sacrificing usable space in your tool box. With the trucks getting higher off the ground these days, this is a feature you will not want to overlook.
The shell of the tool boxes are made from heavy gauge 1/8" thick marine grade aluminum with a .100 lid. The average tool box on the market is only half as thick, .063, which is almost paper thin. They have to fold or hem the edges to hide the skimpy material thickness. In fact, if you were to rub you hand across the edge of one of these it would cut you to pieces. Twisting and turning of your truck will also crack the thin materials.
How about steel? Why overload your truck and reduce what you can carry because you need a tool box that can take abuse. Strong as steel but half the weight these Highway Products boxes are built to last a lifetime. Strong as steel but half the weight these Highway Products boxes are built to last a lifetime. In fact, each standard box comes with a Lifetime warranty against defects in workmanship and the warranty includes locking mechanisms, hinges, gas props, weatherstripping, and any other materials used in construction.
Weather stripping can really make the deference between a poorly made tool box and a great one. That's why we use an automotive "A" grade neoprene weather stripping. We have used the same manufacturer of weather stripping for over 25 years. Nothing is more frustrating than opening your toolbox and seeing your tools in a puddle of water. The Clean Seal automotive weatherguard stripping around the edges of each toolbox to ensure a watertight seal. This top quality stripping is made of closed-cell rubber with a hollow core. This allows the rubber to conform to curves, corners and varying cross sections without bridging or creasing. Each lid has fully welded hat stiffeners ensuring a zero flex topper.
Our T-handle locks and continuous hinge are the same style we use on our legendary semi truck tool boxes. Stainless steel and extra tough. Our locks cost a lot more than the push-button, plastic, or paddle handle locks, used on the others and our hinge is two to three times bigger than the other brands.
Due to constant use and multiple stress points, the hinge is the most important part of your box. We use oversized stainless steel hinges and 1/4" stainless steel pins that are 302 spring-tempered. This rust-free process adds extra strength and longevity to your toolbox. We have these hinges custom made for all Highway Products Inc. toolboxes.
Even the little things are done with ease of use in mind. You won't see a tool tray that compares to the Highway Products tray either. No plastic used here; even the tray is made out of thicker aluminum than most other tool boxes and it sits high in your truck box to give you more room underneath. Strong enough to use as a carry out tool tray it easily lifts out of your tool box and clears the way to access other cargo.
To eliminate the hassle of drilling holes in your truck a carefully engineered, hook system clamps the tool box to your pickup. This hook is accessed from inside and securely fastens to the side rail of your pickup bed.
Nitrogen-driven gas shocks are used on all toolbox lids. This counterbalancing action raises the lid for you and keeps it open while you access your tools and the shocks are strategically placed so you can close the lid with one hand. BTW, even the gas lifts are covered by the Lifetime Warranty.
